We're proud to offer Home Health services in both Del Norte and Southern Curry Counties through Sutter Coast Home Care. This service of Sutter Coast Hospital helps ease the transition home through the skills of registered nurses, home health aides, social workers, physical, occupational and speech therapists. Our discharge planner or your physician can provide more information on these services or you can call the office located nearest you at: (707) 464-8741 or (541) 469-1828.

Discharge Planning
|
Should you need assistance in planning care at home, our discharge planner can help. A number of in-home services can be useful, ranging from home health services such as physical therapy, to registered nursing care, medical equipment and home-delivered meals.
If you anticipate special needs at home, please ask to speak to the discharge planner as soon as possible. Should your doctor have special instructions for you to follow at home, our nursing staff will review those instructions with you and provide a written copy of those directions.

Pharmacy
|
Our Pharmacy Department is an important link in caring for hospitalized patients. The department's professional staff includes pharmacists and technicians, all dedicated to properly dispensing medications to patients.
Please leave all of your medications at home unless your physician requests otherwise. We encourage you to bring a current list of the medications that you are taking and their dosages.
At discharge from the hospital, any prescriptions given to you by your physician will need to be filled at a pharmacy outside of the hospital.

Radiology Services
|
We offer you state-of-the art diagnostic capabilities through advanced technology such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), lithotripsy, low-dose mammography (six days a week and several evenings), echocardiography, ultrasound, spiral CT scanning and nuclear medicine. Certified or registered technologists administer the services, and Board-Certified Radiologists interpret the diagnostic tests.
TELERADIOLOGY
Sutter Coast Hospital is now online with a new service designed to help ease the workload on radiologists late at night. It's called Teleradiology and involves transmitting diagnostic imaging scans to a radiologist at another facility.
Teleradiology provides our radiologist with help during the night and giving our emergency room doctors and other physicians fast and efficient service.
The hospital transmits CAT scans, ultrasound images and MRI results via computer to another facility. A preliminary report is then sent to the emergency room and a copy is also sent to radiology at Sutter Coast.
The results come back from the teleradiologist very quickly. Often, by the time a patient is returned to the ER, we have received a written report of the findings. In the case of abnormal results, the ER physician is telephoned immediately by the remote radiologist and the tests are discussed.
Teleradiology service is used from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. seven days a week, including holidays.

Laboratory Services

Our lab is staffed by clinical laboratory scientists, certified technicians and phlebotomists. We provide comprehensive analysis of tissue, blood and other body fluids as requested by the physician to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Cardiopulmonary Services
|
|
Our professional staff of respiratory therapists offer twenty-four-hour care to include aerosol and bronchodilator treatments, oxygen therapy, chest physiotherapy and pulmonary function testing. Services also include electrocardiograms(EKGs), echocardiography, electroencephalograms (EEGs), stress testing and Holter monitoring.

Rehabilitation Services
|
|
Inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapy services are provided to patients by trained therapists. We provide care for patients who have suffered a stroke, those needing spinal cord and head injury therapy, orthopedic and other services as prescribed by a doctor.

Maternity Care
|
Having a baby is one of life's greatest experiences. At Sutter Coast Hospital, our friendly staff provides personal care in our "home-like" rooms where labor, delivery and recovery all take place in the same room. Every room is equipped with up-to-date equipment and well trained staff to provide safe, individualized care. We offer a program for all mothers to "Pre-Admit" before labor to ease the admission process. We encourage attendance of childbirth classes which include breathing and relaxation exercises. Growing Together Clinic patients can register through the clinic. Other patients can register on line at Classes/Events. We also offer a hot tub for relaxation during labor and medications which can include the use of an epidural.
Breast-feeding is recommended at our hospital. To assist mothers in successful breast feeding, we have registered nurses trained in lactation consultation available to assist in person and by telephone.
The Obstetrics Department at Sutter Coast Hospital offers family centered care where siblings, family and friends can visit and participate in your care.
The Growing Together Maternity Program and Family Planning Clinic provides Medi-Cal coverage for pregnancy and postpartum care.

Sutter Coast Urgent Care Clinic
|
Sutter Coast Urgent Care Clinic offers prompt treatment for non-life-threatening medical problems. Staffed by qualified, licensed physician assistants, family nurse practitioners and nurses, the Sutter Coast Urgent Care Clinic offers daily walk-in services as a convenient alternative to the Emergency Room.
The Sutter Coast Urgent Care Clinic is located in the Washington Square office building across the street from Sutter Coast Hospital and is open daily from 9:45 am to 7:30 pm. No appointment is necessary.
