Services: Pregnancy and postpartum care, confidential birth control methods and counceling, HIV and STD testing for teens and women of childbearing years.
Both Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) work in our clinic, and provide prenatal, postpartum, and newborn care. They monitor your health and your baby's health during your pregnancy. They will discuss your birth plan and medication options with you before delivery.
Our Nurse Midwife consults with the director, Dr. John Tynes, for any problems that may put you or your baby at risk.
The Nurse Midwife on duty during your labor will evaluate your progress, provide medication for pain if desired, and provide emotional support. You will be delivered by the midwife at Sutter Coast Hospital where you will room-in with your newborn. Immediately after your birth, follow-up care begins as she examines your baby and helps you with breastfeeding.
Three-to-five days after the birth of your baby, you will be seen in the clinic. The Midwife will weigh your baby and evaluate the need for referral for further care. At that time, your baby's two-week appointment will be scheduled at one of our community clinics.
At six-to-eight weeks postpartum, the midwife will see you to repeat your Pap smear and perform a breast exam, make sure everything is normal and start you on your preferred birth control method.
Dr. John Tynes, OB/GYN, provides colposcopy and biopsy of the cervix and cryotherapy, accepts referrals for LEEP, sterilization counciling and surgery, assists with difficult deliveries and performs ceserean sections.
Birth Control methods provided include: Condoms, Diaphram, Birth control pills, IUD, Depo-Provera shots, monthly Lunelle shots, sterilization and new types of birth control methods as they become available.
